I love skin care, and I love experimenting with new products. That’s why I am such a sucker for the check out line at Sephora, uuugggghhhh I can never get out of that place spending less than $100. And it’s a double whammy because not only am I buying makeup, but I’m also trying out all the new skin care options.
A few years ago I thought I’d invest (around $200) in a Clarisonic, because it’s so much easier to make your makeup look good if your skin looks good underneath. I just figured that the Clarisonic had to be able to get my face cleaner than just my finger tips could. At first I think it really did make my face cleaner, but then it seemed to take a weird turn and I felt like it was actually making me break out more. So I did a little more reading, and I genuinely had no idea how frequently they recommend you replace the brush heads!!! I was absolutely shocked to read every 3 months, I defiantly went over double their recommendation. That is an additional $120-$150 a year investment….I thought it was a one time expense. But the more I read, the more shocked I became, I had never really taken a moment to consider how much bacteria my Clarisonic was spreading across my face. It’s a wonder it took this long for me to see negative effects on my skin!
I never contemplated how much bacteria can grow on the brush heads between washes since it takes days for the brush head to fully dry. Imagine a dark, wet corner in your shower, and then imagine washing your face with that corner of your shower….it’s pretty much the same thing. Then on top of that, with each use the brush fibers break down and microscopic holes form so there is more places for bacteria to grow and mildew to form. And then…..when you take the brush head off…you can actually see the mildew and mold that gets caught between the brush head and the device itself. Done! I was officially sold on selling my Clarisonic.
And this is when QYK Sonic entered! I still get that squeaky clean feeling without the bacteria harboring and expensive brush heads. I love the design and shape of the Zoe, it gets into all the cracks and creases on my face and also has an anti-aging aspect. One side is meant to cleanse and the opposite side is meant to message in skin care products to help them penetrate the skin deeper and more quickly. There are 15 different massaging settings, so you can adjust to your own liking and to really put the icing on the cake, it’s made of medical grade antimicrobial silicone. WOW!!!!! I was super excited to put it to the test! Ive been using it for about 3 months and I LOVE it!
Now I won’t lie, it’s another hefty investment here, this device is also around $200, but the good news is you won’t need to buy anything to continue using it for years. It a true one time investment. You can click HERE if you are interested in ordering one for yourself.
Happy cleansing folks!!
I remember when the Clarisonic brushes came out and had a massive blow up on social media; it seemed like EVERYONE had one and if you didn’t, you obviously didn’t care about your skin. In reality, it looks like behind all the hype and the marketing, it can be pretty detrimental to skin.
I’ve heard the latest innovation that’s meant to replace the clarisonic is the Foreo (really similar to your Zoe) and I think the idea definitely means it should be gentle on skin and there won’t be bacteria build up. – it definitely seems like a practical investment!
Yes, I remember that blow up! And I’m fairly certain I bought mine 6 months after that! Ha
Yes, the Foreo is very similar! I did however have a friend who bought a travel version that could not be re-charged. And she was very disappointed that the battery died after just a few uses. I joked with her that if it can’t be charged, it’s not an option in my book. 💁🏻♀️
I used to use a Clarisonic too. Stopped for the same reason… expensive and gross! I have one of those silicone cleansers as well. Love it!! Had it about a year.
Nice to hear some feedback from someone who’s been using it a bit longer than me! Thanks for sharing!!! I’m only 3 months in, but I love it!
Cool! I think I should invest for one, too.
Thank you so much for your review- was wondering what to do for a replacement… I’m definitely going to try it out.
