For those of you who don’t already know, my sister is basically a supermodel!!!! She had been modeling a few years when she started suggesting that I should do plus size modeling. At the time, prior to the explosion of social media, I didn’t understand what a plus size model was and just told her she was crazy. Fast forward another year or so, my sister landed in the pages of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and she invited me to the launch party. This also just so happened to be the first year they used a plus size model, Crystal Renn.
(Here’s my sister in all her babe glory!!!!!)
We were at a club in Las Vegas for the launch party, and I see my sister and Crystal talking, and clearly talking about me. My sister waved me over and Crystal started asking why I haven’t started modeling myself. Something about hearing it come from Crystal made it seem like more of a possibility and I was giddy with excitement!!! My sister and her LA agent helped me set up my very first test shoot, check out these gems!
As you can see…my brows have come a LONG way!!!!! After my first test was done, they were submitted to agencies across the country. I had multiple meetings but eventually signed with Ford models to start.
It’s been a few years and a few different agencies now, but it’s the best thing I have ever done. I took a chance on myself and fulfilled a childhood dream of mine. Now I get the pleasure of inspiring others to find happiness and confidence in themselves, I couldn’t ask for anything more! Follow your dreams people!
P.S. We will talk more about the brow situation…I promise!
Love this and you!
I just wondered how you deal with the pressure of having such a skinny sister? That might sound stupid but I too have skinny older siblings, who also happen to be amazing looking, and I find its hard to justify, even to myself, the reason for my own plus size body. In a time when society tells us that people like your sister are perfect how do you avoid living in your sisters shadow and constantly feeling inferior? Or maybe you don’t feel either of those things, in which case what would be your advice to people?
Hey Erin, I can definitely relate!!! It’s something that I personally struggled with for years!!! I think this is such an important question, that I am actually going to do an entire post on it. Thank you so much for taking the time to ask me such a personal question!
You’re such a beauty!!
The image where you’re dressed in light brown, I am out of words really.. It’s so feminine that I want to jump into the screen to get it lol
If you happen to come to Tunisia, just call me haha .. Seriously, I would welcome you
We don’t have many such beauties around here, that’s for sure
